Orion Water Partners is a joint venture with Poseidon Resources that was formed to construct, own, and operate the Carlsbad Desalination Plant, a 50 million gallon-per-day seawater desalination plant providing high quality water to San Diego County under a long‐term take‐or‐pay contract with the San Diego County Water Authority. The plant has been delivering water to the businesses and residents of San Diego County since December 2015 and is the largest desalination plant in the Western Hemisphere. The Carlsbad Dealination Plant was sold to Aberdeen Standard Investments in May 2019.
